Garage Night: Todd D's

A BIG THANK YOU to one of our new members, Todd DePagie, for hosting July's Garage Night and for putting together a great snack buffet. Those spicy boneless chicken wings were amazing!

After (how many days...weeks...someone build an ark!) all the rain-storms finally turned to warm sunshine making for a super ride out to our host's home in Strathmore. Great turn-out by the Blue Knights and...as always seems to happen when Blue Knights gather...the genuine camaraderie of

the brotherhood could be felt by all.

AB V President, Jim Perry, took a moment to acknowledge a well-loved member who went to

Heaven 1 on December 19th reminding everyone that this year's HONOUR RIDE will be held in memory of Bob's commitment and dedication to the Blue Knights. Today would have been Bob's 67th birthday. To "Uncle Bobby"....

'Captain “Bob” Weselosky: July 20, 1949 – December 19, 2015

Joining the Blue Knights Alberta V chapter, Bob continued giving of himself. As a Blue Knight, he

volunteered his time holding the position of Quartermaster and helped with the successful 2009 West Coast

Conference in Calgary.

Bob was a supporter of the HONOUR RIDE, attending several events until his illness took over his life.

Bob enjoyed riding with the Blue Knights and valued the friendships he developed with its members. Some

of his favourite rides included the Highway 40 Ride, Stevie’s Pie Run, the Tune-up Ride and the Police

Memorial Ride.

He was loyal to the Blue Knights and its Charter. The members will miss his dry sense of humour, kind heart

and methodical thinking. He was loved, valued, appreciated and will be dearly missed.

After his death, the Blue Knights Alberta V chapter unanimously agreed that the 2016 HONOUR RIDE would

be held in honour of “Captain Bob”. Some of the proceeds from this event will benefit Bob’s favourite charity:

The Calgary Firefighter’s Burn Treatment Society.

Bob was a dedicated family man with two children and a granddaughter who was the love of his life. His

family is honoured to know that this year’s event is in dedication of Bob but it is us who are honoured to say

THANK YOU to a man so deserving.'

The HONOUR RIDE is this chapter's main, annual fundraising event in support of First Responders. If you have not yet registered for the HONOUR RIDE (registration fee is only $27.70 including processing), click here to go to the registration page.

By registering online, you help the organization committee determine how many volunteers are needed for the event, how much food is needed etc. And everyone who registers online will be entered into a draw for a 43" Toshiba LCD television generously donated by our sponsor, Mr. Chimney.

Did you know...

When you register online for the HONOUR RIDE, people can sponsor you on your own sponsorship page? These sponsorships are donations that support:

Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society

John Petropoulos Memorial Fund

Calgary Military Family Resource Centre

Calgary Poppy Fund/ Veteran's Food Bank

Sponsorship donations can add up quickly when everyone participates. Join the Blue Knight's goal of raising $10,000 for our charities this year. Please see Sponsor-A-Rider for more information.

This summer, Garage Night's have been combined with the monthly Blue Knight's meeting. President, Jim Perry touched on some upcoming rides including a ride this Saturday, Ride for Sight on Sunday and the upcoming West Coast Conference in Surrey.

Afterwards, the group gathered indoors to view a presentation created by the WCC AB V communications team Denise & Lori for the proposed bid to host West Coast Conference 2018 before heading back out for handshakes, hugs and the inevitable ride home.

Again, thank you Todd for hosting a great Garage Night!
